What this policy covers
This policy explains how we collect and use personal data through the website at s-b-e.co.uk. It does not cover personal data we process under a signed contract with a client, which is governed by the terms of that engagement.
What we collect
We collect personal data only when you choose to send it to us. If you complete the enquiry form on our Contact page, we collect:
- your name
- your email address
- your telephone number, if you provide it
- your company name, if you provide it
- the content of your message
We do not require you to create an account. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for marketing purposes.
Why we use it
We use the information you submit to respond to your enquiry and, where relevant, to discuss and deliver engineering services.
Our lawful basis for this is legitimate interests — specifically, responding to a business enquiry you have initiated. Where an enquiry leads to a contract, our lawful basis becomes performance of a contract.
Server logs
Our hosting provider records standard technical information when a page is requested, including IP address, browser type and the time of the request. This is a normal function of web hosting and is used for security and to keep the site running correctly.
Cookies
This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Cookies may be set if you log in to the site as an administrator.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry correspondence for approximately 24 months, after which it is deleted. Where an enquiry becomes a contract, we retain the related records for six years after the end of that contract to meet our legal and accounting obligations.
Who we share it with
We use third-party providers to host this website and to operate our email. These providers process data on our instructions and only to the extent needed to provide their service. We do not otherwise disclose your personal data, except where we are required to do so by law.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- ask us to correct data that is inaccurate
- ask us to erase data, in certain circumstances
- ask us to restrict how we use your data, in certain circumstances
- object to our use of your data where we rely on legitimate interests
- ask us to transfer your data to another organisation, in certain circumstances
